PLATFORM: C.H.E.S.S.

Children: Education is key. Rep Neal has been an advocate for Georgias children to include putting forth legislation to improve their future.

Healthcare: Rep Neal supports expanding healthcare and is a huge advocate for out of the box funding sources for hospitals. Yasmin is a Board Member of Southern Regional Hospital.

Education: Yasmin drafted bill; HB 297 to increase teacher pay in Georgia. Yasmin developed a “Mini-MBA” program for students through the Technical Colleges and has successfully acquired pending funds of $1.1 million dollars; $2.2 million on a grant match for start up funds for Georgia tech school attendees. Yasmin is providing options for students who may not want to take the traditional university route right out of high school

Seniors: Yasmin has worked tirelessly to help inprove the quality of life for seniors. Yasmin frequently supports the local senior centers to insure the aging population continues to feel supported.

Safety: Yasmin is a champion for justice for all. She supports fair and honest citizen engagement and treatment by law enforcement. She also supports “the good apples” of law enforcement. She supports uplifting the law enforcers who are doing right. Yasmin believes in the law being a protection for citizens; equally, and working to create and alter criminal justice policy to support that concept.

***Yasmin’s bill; HB 236 was signed into law by Governor Kemp. This bill allows for additional police protections for persons who have filed restraining orders or protective orders and still do not feel safe.

Additionally, Yasmins Bills; HB570/571 - to provide for mental health support for officers and HB 759 Public Safety Responders (to respond to non-emergency calls instead of police) has been enacted across the state in cities and counties alike.

Yasmin drafted bill; HB 657 to increase pay for law enforcement when acknowledging and being guided by research that has shown that law enforcement that had higher pay; has less instances of use of force against citizens.

 

Yasmin’s Additional Initiatives

HOUSING: Yasmin has partnered with developers across the state of Georgia to bring additional housing; under $250,000 to the Clayton County areas. She has been successful and currently has developments in progress.
